The tachograph has been designed with both drivers and fleets in mind. It makes it easy for drivers to monitor their driving times, rest times and breaks and gives companies ready access to data on their fleet to ensure compliance with legal requirements. Stoneridge also gives companies access to the OPTAC3 web-based tachograph analysis system for the reporting and analysis of data.

Significant features of the SE5000 Smart 2 tachograph include a user-friendly interface similar to that used on the previous version, ensuring a seamless transition for drivers. Several updates have also been made for the purposes of rest times during ferry crossings and crew handovers, the implementation of a 12-day rule for international coach trips, automated departure/destination logbook records when the card is kept inserted overnight.

The SE5000 Smart 2 tachograph gives fleets the option of commanding card download remotely (depending on the telematics) and confirm the company card locking details via printout or display. Workshops can easily update the software for tachographs and tools for data analysis, such as the OPTAC3 web-based tachograph analysis system.

Prepared for the future with the SE5000
Smart 2

The SE5000 Smart 2 tachograph has a GNSS function that automatically records when national borders are crossed without any action being required on the part of the driver. The tachograph has an integrated Bluetooth/ITS interface, which gives drivers control over their personal data and allows external devices such as smartphones to access the tachograph for downloading data.

Here at Stoneridge, we understand that service centers need to prepare for the mandatory retrofitting of tachographs by the end of 2024 at the latest. We will be providing training and support for our Optimo² UGC functionality which helps service center engineers to collect, exchange and reuse required configurations for the retrofit. Our Optimo² tool also provides regular software updates and is compatible with Smart 2 tachographs from version 7.0 onwards.

In short, the SE5000 Smart 2 tachograph offers a user-friendly, efficient solution, ensuring compliance with the new tachograph requirements and optimising your fleet.
